Relative workflows: Event automation made simple

Hands up if you’re a fan of event automation…? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ

If so, I have a product update to share that you might find interesting…

*We’ve launched Relative Workflows!*

So, what are relative workflows?

Relative workflows enable you to trigger communications to be sent at a dynamically chosen time, in relation to an event (or a session).

There are further scenarios in Jonny’s knowledge base article, but here’s one example which explains how relative workflows can be used:

Instead of setting a strictly defined time for sending a campus tour text reminder (i.e., send at 08:30am for a 09:00am tour), you can now create a relative workflow to send the message 30 minutes before the event is about to begin.

Why is this cool?

Well, for the many Gecko customers who have dozens, or even hundreds, of events and sessions, you don’t have to tweak your workflows when you alter your start/end times. Before, you’d change the send time manually. Now, the system will know to keep the send time at 30-minutes prior to the event. And if you’re duplicating events (then changing their timings), your workflows will automatically work in the new time slot. Cool, huh?

Relative workflows can be used to send both texts and emails, and can be triggered:

  • before a session/event starts
  • after a session/event ends
  • after a pre-defined delay

These updates are now live in every account โ€” so dive in!
