GeckoEngage, a leading provider of chatbot and student engagement software for Higher Education, was positioned at number 184 out of 1,000 companies listed in the Financial Times FT 1000 list 2020 – an annual ranking of the fastest-growing companies in Europe.
In its fourth year, the FT 1000 ranks businesses by turnover growth and includes disrupters maximizing on the latest innovations in technology.
In addition to taking 184th place overall, GeckoEngage was also ranked at number 36 in the Technology category, in a list of 187 tech-savvy companies on a high growth trajectory.
Matt Lanham, CEO and Founder of GeckoEngage, commented: “It is fantastic to have the efforts of the GeckoEngage team acknowledged by the FT 1000. Over the past year or two, we have been focused on harnessing the latest AI technologies to enhance the solutions that we offer to our partners in Higher Education. With the launch of our chatbot last year, we provided our clients with the ability to engage with their students 24/7/365 – and uptake has been phenomenal.”
GeckoEngage is headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland, with a growing team based in the United States. Set up in 2012, initially as a digital enquiry management solution, GeckoEngage found its niche within Higher Education, offering a full-service platform including live chat, offline data capture, call campaign and event management that enabled Colleges and Universities to manage both small and large scale recruitment campaigns and events to increase their enrolment funnel.
The company is on an accelerated growth path, and now works with more than 50% of UK Universities, as well as a growing number of US Colleges. The team at GeckoEngage doubled in size during 2019; with 20 employees at the start of the year and 41 as the year closed. The company also commenced recruitment in the United States during 2019, with seven team members to date and plans for further headcount expansion throughout 2020.
In March 2019, GeckoEngage launched its latest innovation, GeckoBot – a powerful chatbot built on IBM Watson. The perfect complement to the existing product suite, GeckoBot allows anytime student engagement in the competitive world of Higher Education admissions. Since launch, GeckoBot has been deployed across all University departments including Admissions, Financial Aid, IT HelpDesk, Student Affairs and Student Success. With the increasing pressure on staff to deliver against targets, GeckoBot helps remove the need for them to answer repetitive, non-complex student questions and refocus their time on high value work.
One unique aspect of the GeckoEngage chatbot is that it can be launched within five days, allowing Universities and Colleges to be fully live and handling student questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week, immediately.
Lanham continued: “While we are obviously delighted that existing clients are using the chatbot – and new clients are coming on board all the time – what really excites us is the velocity of results delivered after just one week. Our chatbot is answering up to 95% of student enquiries without any input at all from a human. This really frees up university staff to focus on high-impact work; and gives students the information they need, exactly when they need it.”
